How it all started
Marquee Mats was founded in 2000 to provide schools and other entities with commercial quality mats and matting products at an affordable price
After six years selling mat turnover cleans for a commercial laundry in Summit County Colorado’s mountain towns, owner Arne Elisha, seeing that there was a great need for direct sales of mats rather than costly rentals, created Marquee Mats.
Since then, Marquee mats have found their way into thousands of schools in Colorado and beyond. Municipalities, recreation centers, churches, hospitals, homeowners and small and large businesses have also benefited from our products.
Our goal is to provide our clients with the best possible mat product for their personal and professional needs. Quality, functionality, durability and beauty are hallmarks of our products. After all, these are going to be the silent sentinels against dirt entering people’s buildings for 20 years or more. They ought to work; and look great doing it.
Meet the boss
Arne Elisha
Owner of Marquee Mats
Born in the mountains of Colorado, Arne saw from an early age the toll that outside dirt and debris can take on the flooring inside buildings. Attending Colorado Mountain College and the University of Idaho earning a degree in Marketing, Sales was an intended trajectory.
An International, bilingual MBA program completed partially in Madrid, Spain led to a stint as Director of Quality Management for a division of the Spanish National Railway. Upon returning to his native Colorado, Arne eventually worked for a commercial laundry that was just introducing mat rentals to their linen business. As Director of Sales, he took mats from 5% to 45% of total revenue in three short years.
But, in that capacity, he constantly saw the need for individuals, schools, stores, municipalities, hospitals, offices and companies to purchase rather than rent quality mats not directly available elsewhere. That’s why Marquee Mats was created. Direct sales of quality mats that one can maintain and clean themselves became a passion. Especially custom logo mats for schools and others with their name, logo, colors and mascot.
Nothing brings more joy than to know that one is providing a quality product that is durable and beautiful yet practical. In 30 years in the mat business, Arne has seen a lot of happy faces as people received their mats as well as having received a lot of feedback from maintenance workers who confirm the value of their effectiveness.
